Oh! You're right, I meant to credit that quote! It's from the (fantastic) Amelia Peabody book series, specifically The Mummy Case, by Elizabeth Peters. The actual wording is "Marriage, in my view, should be a balanced stalemate between equal adversaries." There isn't any marriage in Avatar, but I think it still applies. ;)
