Oh wow, I'm late to the discussion on my own journal but I agree you're not the only one! The animation quality for TSR seems particularly good. Sometimes I think her eyes are a little too slanty but overall, super hot. Maybe they purposefully animated her looking older/more like her mom, for the sake of the flashbacks/her "not a scared little girl" line? Whatever the reason, I too am grateful that her Zuko-bonding-time and her fiercely-hot-time overlapped. <3

32's caption in my head is "sex nao plz?"

You read Katara's my mind! Ohoho, I have a whole separate batch of LULZY icons in the works and one of the captions I used on another shot in that scene was SEX NAO (no PLZ, Katara is very demanding ;) ). I'm totally putting that caption on that shot now. XD

But she looks like that in Sozin's Comet too, especially in scenes she has alone with Zuko (I'm thinking just before he goes to see Iroh and he has his little "I'm not worthy" moment). Normally I might buy that they tweaked her design for the rest of the season, but in EIP it's back to bug-eyed Katara.

Yeah, I hadn't really convinced myself with that rational either! Just brainstorming because man, the difference is striking. Clearly, one of the many secret Zutara fans in upper management was in charge of the animation budget.
