Five Reasons You Should Watch Full House (No, not that Full House.)

Okay, so flist, you may or may not know that I'm currently in love with asian dramas. It's like American TV, but much crackier! And since they have a set amount of episodes, they never have a chance to fall off-track and become terrible! Seriously, it's so great to just a 12-16 episode season to watch of pure fun.

If you're new to dramas, I'd have to recommend you actually start with Hana Yori Dango as that's the show that hooked me. It's a recent classic for reason! However, there have already been great pimp posts about that show... so here's one about my current show that needs more love/fandom: Full House. It's about an aspiring writer, Han Ji-eun who, through a series of plot twists, winds up sharing a house with Young Jae, a famous actor.

You should watch Full House if you like:

1. Terrible Amazing Amazingly Terrible Fashion. While Young Jae can't quite compete with the ~outfits~ put together by Chuck Bass or Domyouji, he does like to expose at least 30% of his chest at all times. And, as far as they go, it's a very nice chest. :D

(That lime green crocheted v-neck is still seared on my retinas.
Btw, all ~looks~ come from just the first two eps. XD)

2. Han Ji-eun is both adorable and not afraid to kick some ass/be generally immoral. Like, conning some celebrity (...okay, it's Young Jae) she just met out of some money because she really does need it! Or headbutting him in the face. Also, her profession is an "internet novelist" which is just how you put "fanfic author" on your resume. She's one of us!

(Yes, Han Ji-eun will headbutt you in the face and chase you down in three inch heels.)

3. Couples who aren't too cool to like playing on a swingset. Seriously, the main couple enjoys psedo-dates would make many 13-year-olds say "Please, that's so lame" but are really adorable activities.

(Examples: learning to ride a bike, going ice-skating and, of course, playgrounds.)

4. There's a scene in which both our male and female lead try to make the other nervous by stripping off some clothing. It's as awesome and hilarious as it sounds!

(Two words: strip chicken.)

5. You need the sweet, sweet crack that only asian dramas can provide. Trust me, you do.

(Warning: Do not watch for the plot.)

ALSO: You might recognize the actor who plays Young Jae from his infamous rivalry with our very own Stephen Colbert. RAAAAAIIIIN! ...This brought me so much joy.

If you're interested in downloading this, or any other, Asian drama, you should go join [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. It's an awesome community that's provided me with many hours of entertainment. <3

Coming up next, icon posts. And why you should go watch Nodame Cantabile, because I'm going to be flailing about that one too. It has more plotty elements in addition to the adorablity and crack. Pfft, if that matters to you or something! ;)

OMGGGGGG!!!! YOU ROCK FOR THIS PICSPAM!!

Seriously, I've been looking for a picture of that green v-neck since *forever*. I haven't seen Full House in awhile but I STILL remember that v-neck. It was so horrible/awesome/horrible/awesome that is is imprinted on my memory.

Yay pimp post! I really feel that everyone should watch (at least) Hana Yori Dango and Full House. They are the asian drama classics!

(Also, you watched/are watching Nodame?! I love that one too! Have you seen the specials yet? I cried! I think I might have liked the two specials better than I actually liked the series because they were so amazing.)

RAIN!!! "Hey Rain! It's raining!" He produces such deep, meaningful music. I love him so much. Young Jae/Ji-eun is so cute and OTP and I love them so much. Also that is such an awesome call on the fact that she is basically just a glorified fanfic writer. Hee!

And since they have a set amount of episodes, they never have a chance to fall off-track and become terrible!

I'm starting to think that this might be one of my favorite things about Asian dramas. Imagine, a whole series that is good all the way through because it's not forced to carry on for years and years past what it's premise can handle. So instead of one or two good seasons and then many seasons of suck in which to become bitter about the show, you get one or two AWESOME seasons and then it ends! No bitterness involved! Imagine if Veronica Mars had followed that mold?!

(OMG I am so dorkily exicted for the icons that will come of your Full House obsession Have I mentioned how happy I am you're into Full House? Because it makes me very happy. Only one other person on my flist watched it and that makes me sad! Do you mind if I pimp out this pimp post on my journal?)

Full House is glorious crack. It's hovering near the top of the list of my All Time Favourite Kdramas (topped only by Coffee Prince and Boys Over Flowers).

This was a terrific post!

Terrible Amazing Amazingly Terrible Fashion.

Hee! Have you ever seen [livejournal.com profile] princess_dexter's picspam of Young Jae's more. . . *interesting* fashion choices? It's a thing of horrific beauty.

Full House is actually much much loved; it's one of the original dramas that sparked off the surge of drama-craziness over the past 20 years or so. I personally love it to death and it was (I think?) my first ever drama and also what sold me on Asian dramas ;) Welcome to the wormhole that is Asian dramas - you'll never get back out of it!

Nodame Cantabile I like much less actually, but HYD is amazing.

OMG I HATE LOVE HAVE A LOVE/HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS SHOW.

it's so incredibly STUPID in places, but Young-Jae and Ji-Eun are so..so..*flails*

[livejournal.com profile] anenko and [livejournal.com profile] princess_dexter are going to mock me for even mentioning that sometimes i love it alot. *mourns*

and yes, you NEED to see [livejournal.com profile] princess_dexter's picspam of bad fashion, because it is SO AWESOME.

..it will also burn out your retinas, but what can you do?

I think I need to give this drama another try. I remember enjoying it initially but the whole side plot of that girl from the clothing store pissed me off & I ended up skimming the rest of the series. Plus, I adore Smiling Pasta which is just Full House with a mature Rain character & a lot of stupid crack.

And since they have a set amount of episodes, they don't usually have a chance to fall off-track and become terrible! Seriously, it's great to just have a 12-16 episode season to watch of pure fun. Also, warning, I will be picspamming more dramas. ;)

GOD, I agree so hard. and the writers don't let fans or real life relationships influence the storylines--which almost always leads to disasters.

BUT. TOPIC. Full House is incredibly fun! Rain was incredibly charismatic and SHK was (is) THE adorable. I was surprised she can do comedy so well and those two have beautiful chemistry. K-dramas tend to get redundant and tedious (as in if you've seen one drama, you've probably seen them all), but Full House felt fresh and delightful and I feel like popping my discs in right now. THANK YOU AND I HOPE PEOPLE HEED THIS PICSPAM!

THIS IS AWESOME. My friends and I were just talking about our favorite dramas, and I proclaimed Full House to be one of my Top 3 of all-time. IT'S JUST SO CRACKY AND HILARIOUS AND ADORABLE! And now I miss it. I think it's just about time for a rewatch, hee. Thanks for the great picspam! :D

I was going to reply to one of your comments about how you've only watched one K-Drama, so I need to come in and recommend you because I LOVE K-dramas. Not the sappy cancer ones though. The hilarious plane-taking, always has a resort-episode one with Gossip Girl like characters!

For K-Dramas, Watch:

Coffee Prince (I saw all the recs for this, it is truly a thing of beauty)

Princess Hours (I swear, I wanted Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick to do an Americanized version of this. It has horrible fashion too, but it takes place in a pretty, pretty palace.)

Boys Before Flowers (I know people are going to hate me for this, but it's better than the Japanese one. Btw, the guys dress better than Nate and Chuck on GG, I SWEAR, and they up the ante on the supporting cast, such that sometimes you go off rooting for another couple when you're bored with the main one.)

My Girl (Classic. this is an example of good plot writing. The characters and storyline never stray for one second)

Sassy Girl Choon Hyang (WATCH FOR THE UNIFORM. IT's PINK.)

And of course, another classic, My Name is Kim San Soon. (all these are comedies by the way, I never watch the sad ones with cancer.)

I noticed your Hana Kimi icon. If you haven't watched the Taiwanese version. DO NOT. Do NOT for one second watch any Taiwanese dramas, except for It Started With a Kiss and even that one's pushing it because it only gets awesome in the last 3 episodes. ALSO I LOVE NAKATSU.

Omg, this show. Pure crack. So much cuteness and prettiness and oh God, the fashion. The chemistry between Rain (RAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN) and Song Hye Gyo is amazing. It's one of my all-time favorite dramas.

<3 <3 <3 I love this drama so much cause it's just so crack and adorable and great all at once.
Oh man, that lime green thing. Every time I watch that episode I break out in laughter... It's just so... so.... lulzy
Great post!
