Good evening, livejournal! So, I am back from my several month long journey to another country. This post, however, is not about that. Instead, A KDRAMA. XD Of courseeeeee. You can take the internet away from the girl but not the internet out of the girl. Or something. ♥

I'm currently watching Faith and enjoying it thoroughly! When Val and I hit episode 8, we basically flipped out so much over the episode that a challenge was issued immediately afterward: CAP YOUR SEVEN FAVORITE MOMENTS AND TALK ABOUT THEM. It is a testament to this episode that even cutting it to seven was difficult. I REALLY LIKE THIS SHOW BTW. ♥

As this is an episode-specific post, it is presented without trying to explain the context of each scene and with a ton of spoilers. Each scene is titled with what I called it when listing it (which, aw, Val and I did independently ♥) and ordered according to when I cemented in that yes, that scene needs to be on the list.

Distinct features: Ears that stick out! That's how I identified her at first, the girl with those cute, sticky-outy ears. :)
As seen in: A whooooole lot of minor roles. Nodame's piano department friend in Nodame Cantabile, a contestant in LIAR GAME, some really small role in Swing Girls I don't remember, the queen bee Hibari in Hana Kimi, ruling the school again in Mei-chan no Shitsuji, and playing to type recently as a guest star on Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de.
Why she's on my list: Stealing scenes every single time she plays a HBIC and that is often. I cared about Hibari in Hana Kimi and Izumi in Mei-chan waaaay disproportionately to the amount of screentime those characters actually received. Izumi was vying for my favorite character of that series? I really need to see her in a lead role because she's got some major acting talent. For as much as she has a type, her characters have been very unique to me. Seeing her in a lot of smaller roles has slowly accumulated to "I really like Iwasa Mayuko".

For my weekly post I've decided it's time of start a series of posts I've wanted to do for a loooong time! When I was first getting into jfandom,

biases's Hovember posts were this super fun festival that introduced me to a lot of new people. However, they were all male-type people. :) There's always been much less of a concentrated fandom for the various women I love (though I notably remember alia's girlcrush series!), so that brings us to MY NEW CHALLENGE:

The basics:

I'm not good at posting on a strict schedule so rather than this being straight through for a month, I'm just going to make thirty one posts about women! Whenever I get there is fine!

This particular challenge I'm going to limit to Japan. Korea is a relatively new interest for me and it's just easier to mentally divide them otherwise I'll never narrow things down.

Since I love a lot of people (I love a lot of people), this isn't going to be a comprehensive list of favorites. I want it to be a bit of a mix of people I want to see more of and people I already love. So there will probably be NOTABLE EXCLUSIONS but that doesn't mean I don't love someone, just that I didn't feel like picspamming them for any number of reasons.

I will try to have them in a vague ranking BUT that might soon go to all hell when I want to picspam someone's face now rather than later. But I will try! :)

So LJ, let's be straight, I miss you. I miss posts with actual html. I miss putting more than four pictures together. I miss the commenting system. And since Val used her month-before-the-day-after-her-half-birthday wish to encourage me to post more here, I thought I'd make a proposition to myself. I'm going to try to post once a week! Something fandom related! A random picture I took! Anything! Considering a common way I relax is to work on things in photoshop until they are 80% and then never post them, I think there is a backlog that could help me here. ;) Consistency has never been my strong suit but I am officially challenging myself! GAUNTLET THROWN.

To kick things off, the very first thing I watched after I issued this challenge to myself: Lucky Seven Ep 1! I'm a little behind the times, drama-wise. I mean, not even just three episodes worth here. I still haven't um, started several of the dramas I meant to watch last season (Nazodi, cough cough). But time presses on and so does my screencap folder. To the spam!

LIFE is one of my three favorite singles that have come out since I entered the fandom. As it didn't seem too tough to do a couple of these, I decided to cap it and everything. :) And also this is a little bit for Tee, who got me revved up with her piqued interest in Eito. :D

Val and I happened to sync up in our watching of City Hunter for an episode and we were SO ENTHRALLED by this one scene that we decided to do a challenge! Twenty caps! Our one and only rule! Okay, getting this one scene down to only twenty caps almost killed me so take that as a recommendation. :DD

DRAMAS. DRAMAS ARE THE BEST, YOU GUYS. ♥ I'm currently in this wonderful period where all the dramas I'm watching are THE BEST! I know that I have a tendency to love love love things when I'm watching but for me, this is a remarkable time in how many things I love this much.

We're going to start with my #1 love: CITY HUNTER. It's been everyone's favorite new drama for a while but I only started watching it three weeks ago, okay?? OKAY. I looooooooove City Hunter. So much so that I take a billion caps of everything and then do nothing with them. ;) This post is brought you by Val's insistence that I don't need to make the best City Hunter post that has ever been and can instead just post caps that strike my fancy.

Recommended if you like vigilantes and the petite girls who throw them to the ground three times an episode.

Okay, so, I've been watching a few new (to me, this one is from 2003 :D) dramas lately and taking some caps thinking I could just post them on Tumblr without any fuss... but then came the issue of how-spoilery-is-too-spoilery and then I just missed the ease of lj cuts! Good Luck!! really has that feeling of being a classic drama to me. It takes a simple set-up, being a commercial jet pilot in this case, adds a number of conflicts and a steady romance, and sets off! While there's no doubt being a pilot is a pretty cool occupation, I love the straightforwardness of picking a profession and exploring all the interest that is to be had in it. I'm sure some people will find it cliché but all I get is delightful and comforting. :)

Okay, this is what happens during Fandom March Madness. I both think, "Wow, I need to watch so many new shows!" (Miranda, Community, Downton Abbey) and "I miss this so much, I must rewatch!" Guess which I am doing? *predictable* Now I have also been rewatching Farscape (♥♥♥ YES, I LOVE IT) but this post is not about that (though I made gifs). Instead, dial back to the year 1999 when Young Top was thirteen. Thaaaaat's right, I bring you a gratuitous spam of DAWSON'S CREEK which probably the younger of my flisters haven't even experienced since it was twelve years ago (!!!). Or even more specifically, a spam of my narrow interest in the show: Pacey and Andie. Yup, I never even boarded the Pacey/Joey Express because I am a chronic monogamist and could love only them. AND BECAUSE THEY ARE THE GREATEST. ♥

If you don't already play along, I totally recommend that you give it a look because it a can be a ton of fun and it's the best when you get in on the ground floor. ♥ BUT even if you don't have an interest, consider voting in these races? :DD They have been going back and forth all day and the Who race is currently separated by a handful of votes, so each one makes a difference. Yesterday I attended the Stand Up for Women's Health rally for Planned Parenthood in Foley Square, NYC! I had a really good time, I think I like rallies! I like yelling and cheering and wearing a theme color and being justifiably angry about things! So I thought I'd post a few of the highlights here, to spread the rally spirit. :D

For anyone who needs a little catching up (lol, I am not an expert so this is only from my own recent catching up!), last week the House passed the Pence amendment which seeks to terminate Title X, a U.S. government program that provides for family planning services. About $315 million is spent in total, with $75 million going to Planned Parenthood. This money subsidizes the cost of HIV tests, birth control pills, various cancer screenings and more, things that might otherwise be inaccessible: whether to those who have a low-income, to those without insurance or even to those who can't consult their usual physician for whatever reason. Note: none of that money goes towards abortions, which rely on private funding only. While the GOP has repeatedly framed this as a budget concern, um, $315 million is not going to weigh heavily on a 3.82 trillion dollar budget. This is nothing short of a values issue and a direct attack on women's health and women's rights in this country, something we really cannot stand to give an inch on. Next up is the Senate vote, which a lot of people are optimistic will shoot this down, but it is vitally important to make our voices heard in this moment. HENCE: RALLY!

AUGH, I'm just on such a good drama streak! Or more like, a drama-with-elements-that-feel-tailor-made-for-me streak! Since I only started watching this show due to some adorable graphics I saw on tumblr, I thought I owned it a mini pimp post! It's a coincidence that I finished putting this together on Valentine's Day but it's actually a very appropriate rec for the occasion! I mean, if you're feeling like something sweet and fluffy, sometimes the day inspires the opposite reaction. ;D

My Princess

How is this drama everything that good and sweet and charming in the world? Seriously, this drama is like having someone stop by and just hand me a ice cream sundae every week. Just… it's exactly what I want! I picked this one up when Gumiho was causing me too many feelings and too much inner strife (lol it's not even that serious of a drama, angst weakling alert!) and I was like, "You know what I need? A show about a girl finding out she's a princess." And somehow, magically, this show has lived up to that distillation! It really does feel like the promo pic above! It's not like everything is coming up roses for Lee Seol either, it's just that the heavier moments in the show never weighs me down. They just makes me excited for more!

Ha, so I realize I'm a drama season (or more) behind, but I'm really happy in the dramas I'm currently watching and thought "HEY, I haven't posted about that in a while!". Right now I'm super into:
1) Freeter, Ie wo Kau: Well, I actually just finished it today but I haven't yet moved on. SO GOOD. I seriously have nothing to say just because it fulfilled all my needs and wishes. (Except I could use more kissing. ALWAYS MORE KISSING, JAPAN. XD)
2) Uta no Onii-san: I have two episodes left! As assumed, I LOVE it. YANO KENTA and his face!! MANABE-SAN! hahaha, oh yeah, I'm watching two Maru supporting roles at once. XD Anyway, I'd heard a lot about Manabe-san before watching the show but I've also been pleasantly surprised by his sister Sakura (who is RAD BEYOND THE TELLING and I kind of want to be her), our Uta no Onee-san, Urara and his ex-girlfriend Akane (possibly it has something to do with needing Ohno to look at more people like this). So many ladies in this show! ♥ But YES, my love for YANO KENTA: COMPLAINER and MANABE-SAN: LADY WHO KICKS ASS and EVERYONE ELSE is boundless. :DD
3) The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry: Just HEARTEYES. I really need to post about that next because I love everything about the first seven episodes. Also I need these people to make-out or I may die. PLEASE DON'T SPOIL ME FOR ANYTHING, I NEED TO LIVE IMAGINING EVERYTHING CONTINUES TO BE THIS ~DELIGHTFUL~.
and the target of this post 4) My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. I've really enjoyed this show from the beginning, the fairytale feel is something I very much dig and the two lead actors are both so great. Though Gu Mi Ho is definitely a show stealer. Yet, it wasn't until episode seven that I really thought that I love this show. So I thought I'd do a little breakdown of moments in that episode that reduced me to total squee. :) Please excuse that these images are both gigantic and numerous, I didn't post this until now because I got overambitious in making things pretty and had left it unfinished.
