A Coffee Prince Ep 9 Picmix

Spoilers for the best scene of episode 9!
No seriously, it's really good and I'm going to spoil you for it.

Alright, guys. I've finally finished putting together a little something for the most awesome scene in Coffee Prince thus far! You knew I wouldn't be able to resist. This originally started off as a single scene picspam for picspammy's challenge this month. However, I spent so many hours in Photoshop, capping and resizing and recoloring, that I got super into the playlist I made for background mood music. And since the song "Across the Ocean" was so essential to the power of the scene* and I love that song so freaking much, this project quickly became a hybrid picspam/fanmix (I'm calling it a picmix, because I'm just clever like that. XD). So there are seven songs overlaying the shifts in the scene, with hopefully not too distracting lyrics laid over the picspam. I hope you guys enjoy!

*By the way, I completely flipped out (WITH GLEE) when they played that song. Azure Ray is currently one of my favorite bands. I could not have chosen a more perfect background song, even in my most wild fandomy dreams. Coffee Prince Music Supervisor, please marry me.

P.S. - If you're looking at this without having seen the show, the reason this whole scene is so heartbreaking is because the lead guy (Han Kyul) thinks that the lead girl (Eun Chan, in the yellow shirt) is actually a guy. And since he's always been very straight, this is causing him a lot of sexual orientation confusion and angst. Also, I made an introductory picspam/pimp post for the show over here. The music choices aren't quite as deliberate as other mixes of mine, since it was an "I need music for Photoshopping!" playlist at first. I hope you like it! Yes, that's actually a girl! She's playing a character that often gets mistaken for a guy, but the actress is really gorgeous in real life. I think the show does an great job of blurring the gender line a bit.

Oh man, I'm downloading Young Americans right now. I've heard the title before, but I had no idea it involved a girl-posing-as-a-guy plotline. Cheesy as it may be, I love that conceit!

You should definitely check out Coffee Prince if you get a chance. It's one of those shows I rec to everyone, since a lot of people haven't seen it and it's such a well done and fun show to watch. I may or may not have flailed in excitement when I saw this. Coffee Prince is by far my favorite drama of all time- and I've seen a lot of drama. And yes, the music for that show could not have been better, at all, at any point. And these characters are fantastic, and this is my favorite scene as well, and I also flipped out when they played Across the Ocean, and this is a beautiful picmix (hee!) and I'd like to sum up by saying marry me, please. Coffee Prince is definitely in my top three dramas ever and that's before even reaching the halfway point of the show. Everything is just so well executed, the music, the writing, the acting. Seriously, every episode I watch I manage to fall more in love with the show.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who flipped out over "Across the Ocean". I mean, most shows in America don't even hit the music choices as well as that. I certainly wasn't expecting it in my Korean drama. What a perfect moment IN MY LIFE.

SOB SOB SOB. This scene is like an emotional rollercoaster! I don't think it's healthy to be feeling so many things at once or all in a row!

When he grabbed her hand, I realized that I was so invested in their relationship I could pass out. And then she was sleeping, and he just loves her so much and is so conflicted but she's so close to him and he cares about her an insane amount and wants to be with her ALL THE TIME but his brain is so confused but he's happy just to be near her and there is too MUCH my heart will explode. And she's just sleeping peacefully on his lap, covered by his cardigan.

I love the music and lyrics you included. I hadn't heard Across the Ocean pre-Coffee Prince, and I'm not one to recognize songs during scenes because (unless I've heard them before) my brain takes it all as one, song, picture, dialogue, etc, and just gets SHOW from it. But when I got the soundtrack, and made little notes in itunes as to which song went with which moment, and then listened to Across the Ocean, I nearly died. I think (I THINK) it's my favorite musical choice on the show. It's not my favorite song on the soundtrack, though it's up there for that too, but the use of it is so perfect. I tear up just listening to it and thinking about this scene. And I really love the other song used in the first part of the scene as well (Last Arpeggios, by Bluedawn) and just COFFEE PRINCE with its stupid music and love and wonderfulness. Before my headphones and/or ipod broke (I need to investigate the situation further) the music from this show was my go to happy place during work. And on the commute. Basically, I just love it to pieces.

And I love you to pieces as well, this picspam is gorgeous and I want to hug it. I will hug my dvds instead and plot ways to hook people with them.

This scene has to be in my top ten favorite scenes of all time. The cinematography, the acting and the MUSIC. There is no better song than "Across the Ocean" for it. While I know most of the other music artists here, I'm not sure I've heard most of the songs (yay!). Agreed, everything about this scene is great! I was just blown away by how moving it was when I saw it for first time. Coffee Prince, how can you be so lighthearted and adorable one moment and then turn around and break my heart the next? It's impressive.

YES. OMG this song, and this scene. My friend was trying to sell me the idea of the show, and she had tears rolling down her cheeks when she was describing this scene to me. And predictably, I was bawling throughout the whole thing too. GOD. He loves her so much, wants to be with her so badly, and the struggle is right there ON HIS FACE and he can't keep himself away from her, can't make him stop and it's KILLING HIM but he can't make himself leave either. I will never be able to understand how this wacky little show brought so much depth and emotion to the table. Totally blew me away.

His FACE gets me every time! I think Gong Yoo deserves a lot of credit for making me sob just with the conflict written on his face. I didn't expect that Coffee Prince would have the power to just break me in one scene.

Oh this was beautiful. I love this scene so, so much. The way he's head-over-heels in love with her and confused and fighting it so hard and yet he just can't help himself.

I think one of the things I love about this show is how significant they make all the little touches. The way he curls his hand around hers, and that hug previously where she puts her hand on his back. Just, guh.

Oh man, I wholeheartedly second that 'guh'. Another thing that really killed me for some reason was Han Kyul straightening her shoes on the sand. It's in all the little moments that you can really see how much Eun Chan means to him.
