topazera: Aiba Masaki with his hands pressed to his lips in extreme excitement (Default)

Hey lj! I've been wanting for a while to get back in the swing of posting something and I think the mail truck is going to beat out other potential posts... my Popcorn CD arrived! :D This may be a little late but my Popcorn boom was delayed a bit by a) waiting for my copy of the CD to listen and b) Hurricane Sandy, which struck almost exactly when my CD shipped, causing it to be redirected to Alaska while I woefully waited without power for four days. XD BUT I think that experience made it enjoy my first listen all the more soooo I'm going to count this one as a waiting success! :D

I have unleashed my excitement in two ways: thoughts about the album that got way too long and wallpapers that have way too many versions! Please feel free to skip either if you are interested in one. :)

Welcome to the Party: Otherwise known as the song I am most likely to suddenly realize I'm singing. :DD I'm especially likely to suddenly break into the "to shine todoki sou na kono sky ni TOUCH" part or just start yelling "happy happy HAPPY HAPPY" at random intervals. XD This is my currently my favorite song on the album, it just makes me ridiculously happy whenever I listen to it. It is a DELIGHT. To me, this is totally Attack It! Part Two which makes me just well up in happy tears. NO REALLY. THIS SONG MADE ME SOB WHEN I READ THE TRANSLATED LYRICS. ♥ I never said my love of Arashi was in any way reasonable. :DDDD

Kakenukero: From the opening, it resembles the kind of songs on the early albums that I just don't listen to much because they sound so…. late seventies? Disco? :D The chorus is aces and pretty much once we've hit the first one, I'm way into the song. I loooooove Nino's solo line in the middle and every "kakenukero!" and overall it kind of reminds me of Wild at Heart. This album is so cohesive, I'm not used to that from Arashi albums! Understandably since they are always have a bunch of unrelated singles in them. ♥ Not one of my top album songs but a solid one.

Wild at Heart: I STILL ADORE WILD AT HEART. ♥♥♥ It is SO FUN. It makes me SO HAPPY. I love the song, the PV, the performances, the sparkly gloves, the mic kick, everything. Between all of those factors, I have listened to this song so many times. :DDD If not for my cult-like devotion to Face Down, it would definitely have kept my favorite-single-of-the-year position. ;P

Face Down: FACE DOWN FACE DOWN. I CAN'T. I CAN'T. I swear, when this single came down, it just completely broke me. That first performance is SEARED into my brain. I didn't listen to anything else for two weeks straight, just Face Down over and over all the time. XD It's so ear-wormingly catchy. This is one of the songs I class as a "karaoke song": I know all the lyrics and I sing along every time I hear it. SO MUCH FUN TO SING. AME ga furisosogeba~ :DDDD

We wanna funk, we need a funk: Yesssssssss. I would just like to state for the record that I am so glad that Matsujun got into making ridiculous dance music. :DDD This song makes me laugh and I like that. I've been really into his recent auto-tuned creations. I love the horns in this and the groove and while not Come Back to Me level of catchy, it's really catchy! I think my favorite parts are the AGE AGE SHAKE IT SHAKE IT and the breakdown before it comes back for one more chorus towards the end, with the jazzy piano.

Two: As always, Ohno's voice is STELLAR. So far, Two is one of those songs that I probably don't have a lot of say about but I really enjoy. Something about the tone of the vocals and drama of the arragement makes me think it sounds like it's from a musical which, naturally, sends me into dreamy imaginings of Ohno as the romantic lead having his ~big solo~ each time I listen. :)

Waiting for You: Probably the song with the strongest opening for me?? I don't know, even though I've listened to it as many times as the others, the beat and the opening line by Nino (sounding really good, my first reaction was "what!! another Nino solo??" even though I knew this was not his solo XD) draw me in every time. A solid, warm song. :)

Rakuen: SO Aiba!! Oh, Aiba. I'm so glad we have you. Where else we would get so many songs that are about the thrill of living life~ This song is a little breathless and frenzied, it really reflects him well. ♥

Tabi wa Tsuzuku yo: I feel like I might be in the minority and also this song might just get turned into a intro or something in the concert but I LOVE this song. It might be my second favorite album song, well, it definitely was at first and now might have slipped a place or two. :) From the first time they revealed the LE cover, I was hoping and praying that it was reflected musically somewhere, some bit of 1920s barbershop quartet somewhere… While not as literal as I was thinking, this song really IS the LE cover. ♥♥ Sometimes I'm not as into to the cutesy-est songs on the album but this one is COMPLETELY up my alley. After Welcome to the Party, it's the next song I've started making a concerted effort to learn the lyrics to. :) I totally imagine it having a stilted dance with big, pantomimed motions and lots of walking around the stage. Just imagining Arashi do it has made me happy, it's doesn't matter if it winds it completely different from my imaginings in real life. :) Plus I think "mata oh! kata o kunde / tomo ni aruku no sa" lyrics are the sweetest. ♥

Sore wa yappari kimi deshita: NINO, YOU BASTARD!! EVERY TIME!! I cried. Of course. While I wouldn't name it the number one Nino song to destroy me, it was a very good effort. It kind of makes me want to throw myself into a lake. ♥ Seriously though, I find it both impressive and interesting that Nino likes to write these melancholy, stirring songs that grab people's hearts and squeeze. There's something so delicate about how he writes. I love how these beautiful (often tragic XD) songs are invariably about the importance of little clumsy, ordinary moments. The "aikawarazu da na…" line is my favorite. And as always, his voice never fails to make me emotional, the high part of his range, the low part of his range, every part really. I particularly like the Japanese orchestration in this one. I look forward to having a meltdown on a whole new level when he performs this. ♥♥

Meikyuu love song: Still love this song too! I think over the course of the year, it got rather overshadowed by Wild at Heart for me so I'm actually really glad the album got me listening to it again. Nothing beats ALWAYS WITH YOU TATOEBA. :DD

Your Eyes: I'm really into the "mid-tempo ballad" idea. I think I tend to listen to faster paced music much more often than ballads so this is perfect way to ensure I reach for a ballad just as much. I love the drama of this song and I think it divides the parts and harmonies just perfect. It feels right, like there's the perfect spot for everyone to shine. Forever all about that Aiba solo-Jun harmony line. :DDD I also really like how it ends! LOL, I feel my lack of music terminology knowledge is becoming really obvious as this talking goes on. XD

Fly on Friday: Easy to listen to! Fun! I like this kind of airy, bouncy, rap and singing combo for Sho. :) My head is always bopping along when this comes on. My favorite part is the "turn it up turn it up ___ tsuzukeyou odoro" part!

Cosmos: I feel like on the first listen or two I was a little put off by all the drums and chorus and cheering in the arrangement but I have since adapted and now reach to play this song probably the… third or fourth most on the album? ♥♥ I'm so glad, that I have Arashi in my life to give me such unabashed positivity and brightness and joy in my music. ♥ OBVIOUSLY the whoa oh oh oh~ parts are SUPER fun to sing along with but also I think every single solo line and Sho's rap are so great. I can't wait for this in concerts!

Akashi: This song feels very ARASHI to me. :) There's something about it that sets me at ease. So far I haven't reached for this song first much but I'm always glad when I find myself listening to it. I still slightly expect it to be Hatenai Sora from the sweeping opening. XD

Up to You: It's funny, I feel like (similar to Kakenukero) this song could have come off as too disco for me but somehow it manages to… not? I ADORE this song, it's one of my very favorites on the album. ♥ I just grin ear to ear as I listen to it. I suddenly find myself shouting ALL FOR YOU!! SONG FOR YOU!! TORI MO DOU SO!! Plus it's another one of those songs where everyone gets to do something notable, like I have clear impressions of all their voices standing out in some way.

To sum it up the feelings rolling around my heart after listening to this album: I wish Arashi would have the time to do a musical that stars all five of them. Yeah, okay, maybe not the clearest summary but that's how I feel. XD

But enough love blabber, now on to the wallpapers!! These aren't very fancy but I did try out my new scanner (not a nice scanner but a scanner built in 2012 as opposed to the one from 2001 I was using) to create my own material. :) I LOVED the LE booklet, from the first moment I saw the cover I loved it. So these are basically just the LE booklet made into wallpaper shape. :)

Note: Okay, I really couldn't decide whether to live with the seeing the scan texture OR make the image super tiny, so you have a choice of both for the next two wallpapers. XD

As always: if anyone needs help with a resolution that isn't up here, give me a shout and I'll see what I can do!
Comments are always appreciated! :D
Enjoy! Please don't repost them to Tumblr, I always get a bit disheartened when I see things I made scroll by on my dash. ♥

And a quick life update, I'm going to visit my dear Val in Indiana tomorrow!! It's all very exciting, my visit to her kept getting pushed off and pushed off so I'm very gleeful the day is finally here. ♥ I expect my life to get a 1000% increase in Arashi and drama irl fangirling soon~
