01 to 04 - i absolutely LOVE when Katara and Zuko get their Zutara moments when only those two are on screen. X3 it's like TV's ship Zutara. 8D and you captured it perfectly-- *standing O*

08 - ah HAAAAAAAH. BRILLIANCE. you know he wanted to say "I could... tie Katara to a tree-- for old times sake." SO BAD. YOU KNOW IT. XD

10 thru 12 - man sumtimes i forget how badass Katara is-- i love it when she's not so mommy-ish all the time. THANK YOU ZUKO, FOR BRINGING HER BAD SIDE OUT, TIME AND TIME AGAIN. 8D

15 - SAME.FRIGGIN.HERE. Zuko SO had a canon!crush on her-- i mean LOOKIT; he went out of his way to touch save Katara by tackling her and then he stared at her the rest of the episode. XD

16 - oh we know Katara, we know and so does Zuko, whom you'll be hearing from in about 2 weeks after the war-- bout his OWN moms and HIM needing "it" (among other things NUR HUR)

19 to 21 - Katara is so not 14. she is so NOT 14. in TSR, she was SO legal and Zuko's age. Srsly-- it was like Mommy and Daddy went to go take care of buziness. Like... vacation! 8D

22 - LOL so calls for a "Katara is NOT Amused" quotation preferably "Endgame? Katara is not amused." quotation

27/30 - OMFG SHE'S LOOKIN AT HIS LIPS. KATARA LEAN IN LEAAAAAAN IN, DAMNIT. FEK THE SCRIPT! FEK. THE. SCRIIIIPT. D:

25 thru 37 - man i love that hug and the placement of them both and the fact that those two are the only ones on camera for like 10 seconds. ALSO, the frigging sunset. THE SUNSET. SYMBOLISM! heck, off the top of my head: the sun (Zuko) can finally be at rest because it's accepted by the moon (Katara), so he eases back into forgiveness (sunset) and they both can share the sky once again (mutual friendship and respect). Y/Y? 8D

38 thru 40 - HIPPIES SHIP ZUTARA. how can that not be moar awesome? ;__; stupid bryke. stupid fake foreshadowing. stupid... everything (cept Zutara and it's fans and shippers).

i mean, do ya know what Creepy!Katara is and where she was born? It was right after Aang kissed her (in DOBS).

It may or may not just be my Zutarian!Soul talkin, but I srsly think that Zutara makes her hotter.

A lot of people found the Fire Nation disguise she wore hot, and it was, but I thought that a lot of times she was drawn really bug-eyed. Then TSR rolled around and she wasn't anymore. And then in EIP it came back. Then Sozin's Comet? Gorgeous again, and also does not look anything approaching the age of 14. That scene right before Zuko goes in to see Iroh? She looks tons like her mom, way more so than any time before. And Kaya was smoking.

As much as the inconsistencies in the character model bother me, isn't it weird she's more beautiful when she's with Zuko?

So basically:

Ahh the Fire Nation get-up that was her metamorphosis into teh Avatar Playboy mags. XDXD
I agree, it was appealing and the style was snazzy, but sometimes her actual character design lacked-- you can tell the animators slacked off.

but in TSR -- gorgeous. it was something that we all didn't expect, but happily gobbled it all up. to be honest, i expected the actual interaction between Zuko and Katara to satiate my Zutara-hunger-- but to my delight (and i'm sure to everyone else here and everywhere) we all got amazing character design throughout the WHOLE episode... you can tell the animators worked their butts off in TSR.

and what i love about that is that they didn't have too, only in the finale were they expected to go out with a beautiful bang. but they did anyways. and that speaks so much volume. 8D

so the riddle is solved:
Zuko and Katara literally compliment eachother when they're in the same scene. that's probably why the finale looked so nice; Zuko and Katara had to be together the whole finale, to ENSURE the character models looked jaw dropping heck they even had them sleeping next to eachother-- talk about dotting every 'i' and crossing every 't'. XDXD

ahhh Creepy!Katara = it's basically a fad on DA, where she attacks you and you suddenly get her facial expression. and the person who started aformentioned fad, found Creepy!Katara in a screenshot, where Aang leaves to NOT save the day after kissing her in DOBS.

it's funny how aang and katara's 'first kiss' was badly animated and zuko and katara's 'bonding episode' looked great.

And I don't know if you notice this, but in the finale's last episode (avatar Aang), the animation was lacking than the first three finale episodes, but when it came to the smooches it suddenly become nicer.

what, bryke? scared that the CANON kissing scenes won't hold a candle against the zutara scenes?

AHAHA, you're so cute! I figured that no one would actually want to talk about icons as much as I do... but I'm so pleased you proved me wrong! For me, iconing is totally an excuse to stare at the scenes I like for hours. XD

01-04 - I know! Say whatever you want about Bryke, they did give us some fantastic Zuko/Katara scene in the last few eps which they didn't need to do. I'm still squeeing about all the pretty. How did they not convert themselves?

08 & 22 - OH MAN. I'm already in the middle of a FOR THE LULZ batch from TSR. D'you mind if I add your jokes? I will credit you!

10-12 - Yeah, Kickass!Katara is pretty much my favorite thing ever. When people say "Oh, but Zuko brings out the worst in her!" I'm always thinking "No! He brings out what she tries to repress. Which is healthly AND TOTALLY BADASS AND HOT.

15 - Dude, I will always defend Zuko's canon-crush. Plus, I could so imagine since Zuko has such a one-track mind that he hadn't realized how attractive Katara is until he meets them at The Western Air Temple AND LEAPS ON TOP OF HER. And then he's all "Hey. You're really hot. And fiery. And powerful. Wanna make-out?".

16 - I know! Their development is so parallel. Now that Zuko is like "TEAM ZUTARA IS AWESOME!", which is canon, you know he's going to recruit her for MISSION: FIND MY MOMMY. XD

19-21 - Zuko and Katara as the Gaang's parental figures are totally a kink of mine. IT'S GROWN-UP TIME NOW, AANG. GO PLAY WITH APPA.

27/30 - LOLOLOL! She TOTALLY IS looking at his lips! I didn't notice it until I went to screencap and then HELLO LINE OF SIGHT. SHE WAS TOTALLY THINKING ABOUT IT. DAMNIT KATARA, TAKE THE INITIATIVE! LIKE YOU NEVER DO IN KATAANG CAUSE IT'S CREEPY.

25-37 - Y! Your analysis is beautiful, BB. MUTUAL FRIENSHIP AND RESPECT FTW! When I was coloring, I was like, "GAH. But it's so beautiful! How is this supposed to be TOTALLY PLATONIC?"

You're welcome! I'm definitely a fan of your icons! I really like the way you crop and use negative space, I think you do a nice job of breaking up the square! I feel like I always just crop and color and add texture/text. Plus, I really like your use of red (set on screen, I think?). <3 You have a good sense of balance; your icons look so... complete.

I completely agree, TSR is SO pretty. The animation really made it a pleasure to screencap and icon. THE EXTREMELY PRETTY PEOPLE BEING NINJA BUDDYCOPS DIDN'T HURT EITHER.

Re: 17 & 18, wow, thank you so much! I particularly liked those as a pair and it's so nice of you to look so closely! I really fell in love with textures while working on these icons and I hope I'm learning how to use them right! *blushes*

I do think there's something about the pairing not being fulfilled in canon that makes creating fanworks more exciting. But really, I'm just a big sap that loves seeing Zuko & Katara together. <3

Oh wow, I'm late to the discussion on my own journal but I agree you're not the only one! The animation quality for TSR seems particularly good. Sometimes I think her eyes are a little too slanty but overall, super hot. Maybe they purposefully animated her looking older/more like her mom, for the sake of the flashbacks/her "not a scared little girl" line? Whatever the reason, I too am grateful that her Zuko-bonding-time and her fiercely-hot-time overlapped. <3

You read Katara's my mind! Ohoho, I have a whole separate batch of LULZY icons in the works and one of the captions I used on another shot in that scene was SEX NAO (no PLZ, Katara is very demanding ;) ). I'm totally putting that caption on that shot now. XD

Oh! It totally is! I didn't expect people to recognize it, since it looks kind of generic out of context. You win! Yeah, "My Skin" is on my "Dark & Intriguing" playlist that I was iconing too. (I steal almost all my text from lyrics!) I agree, it's such a good fit, for the bloodbending aspect of the episode in particular!

Btw, I love the text on the icon you're using. Wow, that fits the scene perfectly! I didn't come up with anything for that shot hence, textless. :)
